JULY 11, 1942

LETTER#1 From: Gene to John

"Dearest Johnny,"

July 11, 1942

Dearest Johnny,

I don’t like your accent nor your sarcasm either. But I don’t feel like going into that.

I felt awful all day but then Mom and everyone told me to get dressed and go to the carnival with them. It did me good. Shirley got our pictures so her, Wendy and her mother came to the carnival also. Hers were really swell but mine were awful. I guess it was because they looked like me. We saw Tucker. He sure is a handsome brute. Everybody was there. I would like to have stayed longer. Maybe we can go Saturday.

Well honey I am going to sleep now. I’ll dream about you, so maybe I won’t sleep.

Love,

Gene
